Meet your maker...

My name is Louise Hugill. I established 'The English Leather Rose Co' in 2005 and have been designing and handcrafting my unique leather roses for almost 25 years...

The English Leather Rose Co. began life on board our narrowboat ‘Faustroll’ which was our home for many years as we cruised the inland waterways of England. Although my English leather roses are a contemporary product, there is an echo of the Roses and Castles folk art tradition of the English canals.

Initially I sold my roses from our boat to earn ‘beer money’ for the evening ahead, but it soon became apparent that there was a much larger market for them. So I took my leather roses to shows and exhibitions. Most notably we exhibited the Erotica exhibition at Earls Court in London for 3 years, had a regular monthly stall at The Birmingham Bizarre Bizaar and attended the London Fetish Fayre.

Over time we moved off of our floating home and I opened my online shop. I became so busy sending my leather roses all over the world that I decided it was time to concentrate solely on that side of the business.

Today I work from my home studio in Market Harborough. It has never been my ambition to create a ‘big business’. At heart I am a crafter who loves making beautiful things and sharing them. I have customer relationships that are 20 years old - traceable back to a 1st rose at Erotica, then on to Valentines, birthdays, wedding bouquets and wedding anniversaries. Some of my customers have quite a collection! Just recently I made a rose as a 21st birthday present, a gift that resonated because her mum had been given one of my roses when she was born (and she still has it!).

I work only with premium grade leathers that my Northampton suppliers can trace back to source. It takes me about an hour to handcraft each individual rose. I cut out all the leather by hand and form each petal and leaf individually. All of my designs are original, unique and only available direct from me.

Order with confidence, safe in the knowledge that your order really matters. I will make, wrap, pack and post your rose(s) myself and take full responsibility for your satisfaction. I’m not happy until you are!
